Premier Equestrian Centre

This extraordinary scheme – which will serve as one of the largest and finest equestrian centres in the country, for the training and lodging of world class eventing horses – sits on a much wider rural estate featuring residential and recreational facilities, a few miles Southwest of Burford.

Designed as a series of structures arranged around a central courtyard - drawing inspiration from the Victorian model farm concept and tailored to bring our client’s brief to life – the resulting scheme reflects both agricultural building forms and residential vernacular architecture.

The arena - the largest element of the scheme, measuring approx. 50m x 67m – includes a double height indoor manège, viewing platform and associated storage facilities. The structure has been designed as a modern interpretation of an agricultural barn, with a low, pitched roof, contemporary materials, and extensive glazing, filling the space with light.

More traditional in scale, design and detailing, the stable block - arranged in an ‘L’ shaped plan - forms two sides of the central courtyard. The building is designed with a triple gabled roof structure and an overhanging roof line, creating a series of verandas. The structure houses eleven stables, together with associated facilities including stores, feed and tack rooms, a wash down area and solarium.
