Update your browser!Previously compartmentalised into separate flats and disbelievingly gutted of nearly all historical features, this Grade II Listed four-storey semi-detached villa required expert restoration to return it to its former glory, preserving the rich legacy of the past while seamlessly integrating modern comforts for contemporary living.
Collaborating closely with the client and esteemed Interior Designer, Nia Morris, our goal was to breathe new life into this historical gem, and as ever, the design approach was rooted in a deep respect for the original features and layout of the house. Throughout The Town House, echoes of its storied past now resonate in every corner. From the carefully reinstated period detailing and resplendent feature fireplaces now gracing the formal drawing and dining rooms, to the spiral staircase, returned to its original location, each element speaks to the grandeur of Classical craftsmanship. New additions include a bespoke bar, unique wine cellar from Spiral Cellars, a walnut dressing room off the master suite, and a mezzanine playroom nestled in the loft space, further elevating the living experience.
A focal point of modern family life, the open-plan kitchen / family room by Kitchen Architecture serves as the heart of the home, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces. This space effortlessly transitions to the sunken terrace, offering panoramic views of the meticulously landscaped gardens by Hadingham Kirk. A multi-use garden studio, thoughtfully designed to complement the existing house, serves as a tranquil retreat, bridging the gap between heritage charm and contemporary functionality.
The restoration of The Town House was a collaborative effort, with each contributor playing a pivotal role in its transformation. From the thorough planning consultations led by JPPC Chartered Town Planners to the expert craftsmanship of WG Carter, every detail was carefully considered to ensure the preservation of its historical integrity.
