Contemporary Office Conversion & Refurbishment

This stunning commercial property was originally constructed in the 1950s as an extension to an attractive mews of 1920’s warehouse buildings, formerly a piano works.

An extensive refurb and conversion scheme – with fluidity of movement and retention of light, central to the design – saw the reconfiguration of space to create an open plan office layout with additional meeting room suites, private offices, and social breakout facilities.

A modern-industrial interior presents new and altered apertures framed with Crittall-style glazing – a feature carried through for internal partitioning – and oak wall cladding with parquet floors, softened with hand-selected rugs, timeless furniture – from Knoll, Vitra and Fritz Hansen – and carefully curated indoor planting.

Feature tiling punctuates the space throughout. Monochrome chevrons by Mandarin Stone extend from ground floor lobby to stairs – complemented with a brass handrail – adding visual interest and guiding the line of sight upwards and into the central office areas. Bathrooms showcase oak-clad doors complemented with hexagonal patterned walls and floors, with smart, minimalist vanity units, both by Porcelanosa. A beautiful, understated kitchen by Kitchen Architecture echoes the chevron floor tiles seen at entry.

Adding interest on approach, a new, aluminium clad entrance – with sleek box planters, oak bollard lighting and verdant green wall – is beautifully complemented by newly polished cobbles that follow the original slope of the site, providing a rich texture, reflective of the estate’s heritage.
