We’re thrilled to announce that our colleague, Adam, has been promoted to an Associate. Adam joined AO almost six years ago, having relocated from South Africa - where he worked for a practice that specialised in large-scale contemporary, commercial projects. Adam is an exceptionally talented designer and as well as making a seamless transition to residential project work, is a leading light in harnessing the power of technology within the architectural discipline - always looking for innovative ways to engage with each client and develop the best means of communicating a design scheme, from concept and feasibility visual sketch renders to 3D BIM and printed models. A valued and supportive member of the team, his passion and aptitude for high quality design has, and continues to be, very exciting to witness.
During his time at AO, Adam has worked on some of our most unique (and challenging) contemporary design schemes – significantly contributing to the growth and strength of the practice portfolio. We are particularly delighted to have secured planning permission, just last week, for one of his most recent projects - this distinctive, replacement dwelling, in the greenbelt of the Vale of White Horse.
“Designed in direct response to the sloping site, the desire to generate long-distance views across the county (from key living spaces), optimise daylight and accommodate flexible spatial planning – all the while adhering to the local authority’s stringent volume restrictions – this was an exciting opportunity to create a sympathetic, contemporary subterranean home, that showcases an irregular series of articulated forms, intended to sit nestled within, rather than on, the landscape… carefully designed and detailed to be both pleasing in form and function”.
We’re looking forward to seeing how this project, and Adam’s future design work, unfolds – and in the meantime, would like to say very well-deserved congratulations!
